Time and time again, I have read horror stories of applying for tourist visas for their wife or girlfriend to the USA, and then getting them denied. We experienced this as well, until we broke the secret code. Our Experience applying for my wife's tourist visa I was retiring from the military after 22 years, and I wanted my wife to attend the ceremony and experience a military air-refueling flight in a KC-135. I read up on getting a tourist visa on the US Embassy's website. After reading all the material, I said, 'We can do this!' We got:
Along with this we provided our marriage records that showed that we had been married for 5 years, and that our daughter is a dual citizen. After booking our appointment online with the embassy, we arranged transportation and lodging in Manila. (NOTE: I am going to suggest that you use this link for a $25 AirBnB coupon). In Manila, we stayed within walking distance to the US Embassy, but we decided to do a trial walk to the embassy the day prior to ensure we had enough time to get there on time. A 10 minute walk. No problem. The day of her appointment, we dressed professionally, we had the documents organized properly, and we arrived in a timely manner. After clearing security, we were given outdoor seating to wait. When it was time for her appointment, only she could go in for the interview. I kissed her smiling lips and I wished her luck. 10 minutes late she came out crying. 'They asked me 3 questions and denied my visa.' The questions:
Then she added, 'They didn't even look at our documents. They claimed they didn't need to look at them because they didn't like my answers.' More crying. 'But he did say that if I paid the US government $550,000 that you could buy a US citizenship.' (Crazy as it sounds, this is true. The US will sell US citizenships). I hugged her and told her it wasn't her, it was them. So what did we do? We waited the necessary time and applied again. Result: Exactly the same! There has to be a solution because the embassy's statistics show that hundreds of Tourist Visas are issued to Filipinos every year. A few months later, I met a friend who had taken his wife to the USA on a tourist visa. "How did you get your wife a tourist visa?" He explained the secret code. "You must get a Philippines Permanent Resident visa. Then when she applies, have her show them your visa. This will trump their denial of her US Tourist visa." My friend introduced me to an agent who cold get me my Permanent Resident Visa in a few weeks (if I had all my documentation ready). Now, ready with my new Permanent Resident Visa, we applied again. During my wife's interview, she was asked the same questions again. The interviewer said, "Denied." "But I have this," my wife said. And she slid my permanent resident visa under the bullet proof glass. The agent looked at it and his expression changed. "Oh, Congratulations. I am going to approve your Tourist Visa." So the the Secret Code to Success is having the Philippines Permanent Resident Visa. (Note: if you want to use the same trouble free agent that I used to get my visa, email me and I will send you her personal number and email address.
