Hello Again Everyone
In the USA, Canada, and Europe - Summer is almost here. This means people will be looking for quick ways to look sexy in their swimsuits. I want to share with you what my Intermittent Fasting experience for getting into Ketosis quickly to lose unwanted body fat.
I have to admit, I began looking for quicker ways to look better, especially when my daughter told me that I looked chubby. 'Daddy, why do you have a chubby belly? Do you need to exercise or diet?' Her words of honesty slightly offended my male ego, but mostly they motivated me to find a solution.
Recently, I learned of Intermittent Fasting (see the video above) where your body can quickly go into a state of Ketosis (where your body burns MORE body fat as fuel). So I gave thought I'd give it a try.
My Experience with Intermittent Fasting (18 hours of fasting & 6 hours of healthy eating)
Day 1: (6pm) Rose and I finished our dinner, and took an evening stroll to enjoy the afterglow from the sunset. 'I feel full. I feel good. I think I can do this!'
Day 2: (7am) Breakfast is on the table, and my will power leads me to the kitchen to brew a cup of coffee. 'I can do this,' I tell myself.
(Noon) I ate everything. Oops, I forgot to try to eat Keto (low carb) foods. Crap! 'I will do better,' as I look in the mirror and shake my belly roll.
Day 3 through Day 8: I am able stick to the Intermittent Fasting protocol, but I I'm not fun to be around. I was becoming 'Hangry' - Hungry and irritable.
Day 9: I wake up with a headache, and my pulse rate is higher than normal (about 10 beats higher according to my iWatch). I think I'm dehydrated, so I drink copious amounts of water and take an ibuprofen.
Day 10: I'm still on the Intermittent Fasting protocol, but I still have a headache and I my pulse is still higher than normal.
At this point, I decided to eat some comfort food. I ate a few slices of Pili Nut bread. Within a few minutes my headache was gone, and I was feeling better.
I decided it was time for me to stop my Intermittent Fasting protocol.
Ending my Intermittent Fasting and My Results
After ending my intermittent fasting, I began to feel more like my normal self: energetic, happy (not Hangry), and focussed.
I realized several negative aspects that I experienced while I was intermittent fasting:
Body Shape Results
Yes, I did lose weight. I didn't have 6-pack abs, but rather I lost weight all over my body - not just around the belly. But this did give me a good starting point for getting fit.
Now I am doing several exercises that are great for my overall fitness level as well as for my belly.
Give me at least another 5 weeks, and i'll be looking good... ok, looking better.
Intermittent fasting wasn't for me, even though I did get some positive results from it. I did learn more about my metabolism, and the affects of being hungry. I think my biggest lesson is that I learned to eat healthier and exercise.
The next time I do intermittent fasting (yes, i will probably do this again), then I might only do it for 1 or 2 days in a month, because the intermittent fasting shrinks my stomach. When my stomach is smaller, I don't need to eat as much food to be fully nourished.
Next Week I will share with you what I am doing to stay in shape.
