Today We Found Paradise.... Again!
It's easy to believe we found paradise again because of where we are living:
But what I came to realise today is that Paradise is not a specific place. But rather, paradise is the emotional feeling created by the pleasing experiences while at a place.
Today we found paradise while on an EXPEDition with Philippines Sailing Tours.
Today our expedition was shared with Rose's parents. They are from the 'boondocks' (the mountain region) of Leyte, Philippines. (If you are interested in learning more about the 'Boondocks', then you can read about it in 'Like Winning the Lottery')
Our EXPEDition involved riding a dune buggy to a remote beach that is normally accessed by sea ONLY. Fortunately, we had access to the only dune buggy on the island. Therefore we could bounce across precarious boulders, fallen trees, muddy crevasses to reach a remote slice of paradise.
What comes to mind when I think of Paradise is:
Today's paradise is at fishing village.
The beach is untouched by modern resorts and amenities. The white beaches are raw with beauty and devoid of society. The water is crystal clean and warm. And we love it's simplicity - sharing music from hand made guitars, vocals from talented children, and laughter from our attempts to sing.
While sipping our robust village coffee, we rediscovered a primal ideal - the love for all life. For people, for plants, for pets, and for the animals used as food (fish from the sea and live stock that rested freely around our feet as we sipped our strong island coffee). All are cared for, and all are blessed - in greetings, at meals and in good byes.
Another thing we discovered, is the simple pleasure of watching the azure blue ocean, listening to the birds in the coconut trees, feeling the refreshing sea breeze, and experiencing the genuine kindness of the curious villagers.
Will we return here? I hope so.
Will I tell others where this place is located? I am not sure. I don't want to change a thing.
