Waves gently splashing on the shore. Sunlight streaming from a cloudless sky. Seemingly-endless sand joining the horizon. Sounds pretty peaceful, doesn’t it? And for many of you who spend most weekday hours indoors, it doesn’t take much persuasion to visit the beach and catch some sun.

But if you do need more reasons to hit the beach, find out how the surf, the sun, and the sand can boost your physical and mental health.

Who wants to Quit Their Job, Retire Early, and Move to a Tropical Island? Let me share my experience, then you decided if this is something you want to try...

I wake up to an unusual sound for a January morning. It's the sounds of a gentle rain shower. Nothing to worry about. So I lay on my back and enjoy the relaxing sounds of the raindrops on the palm fronds outside our window.

Mens Short Haircut 2019 - My Razor Haircut for Less than $1

1/11/2019

I'm starting off the new year with an effort to look sharp - because ZZ Top says, "Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man". So into my barber for my 1st mens haircut for 2019.

Jun (short for Junior) has been cutting my hair for the past 7 years. What I like about the haircuts that he gives me is that they are a razor haircut - also known as a straight razor fade.
While the razor fade haircut is a stylish modern style offered by many barbershops, it takes a truly skilled barber to cut and shave a razor fade.

Jun's has his little barbershop located on the 1st floor of his home. He definitely minimizes on the decor, but he absolutely maximizes my comfort with his razor expertise and experience.

When he's finished cutting, Rose (my wife) will walk around me and say, "Ang gwapo mo ngayon!", and give me a kiss. "You are handsome again".

Jun smiles because he knows Rose is satisfied with his work.

He finishes by giving me a brief scalp, and a shoulder massage. As I get out of the chair he tells me, "Forty pesos, sir Greg." I smile. I give him the forty pesos plus a very generous tip. "Thanks, my friend," and we are both satisfied with the deal.

Forty Pesos is equivalent to 80 cents

I'm not an expert at styling my hair, but Rose likes it when I put some styling wax in my hair. She says it makes me gwapo. If the simple request of putting styling wax in my hair makes my wife more loving and affectionate, then the extra ten pesos is a great investment.

Have I had any other experiences with a Razor Haircut?
Unfortunately, yes. I've had razor haircuts that felt like torture. My worst experience felt like the barber was ripping the hair from my scalp. "Ouch!" was putting it mildly. I remember thinking of getting out of one barber's chair and leaving, but the mirror made it extremely obvious that I needed stay and let them finish. (Note: the bad haircut happened while I was visiting in the USA).

Are you thinking of coming to the Philippines for a visit, to get a haircut, or moving to the Philippines? If you are, then let us know. Maybe we can offer you more guidance. Moving to the Philippines has been one of my best decisions in life.

The coffee industry in the US is worth over $19 billion per year. Coffee is the second largest industry in the world (#1 is petroleum oil). Oddly enough - like oil - many people view coffee as their vital source of “fuel” needed to get them going in the morning. In fact, half of all Americans drink coffee.

Our Favorite 3 Hangover Cures that work Fast & Easy for Us

1/1/2019

Comments

Do you want to know how to cure my Hangover?  If the answer is YES, then  let's get started with my Top 3 .

1. IV Drip
I learned that an IV drip of hydrating fluids, a high dose of vitamins, and antioxidants helped me feel better. Getting this treatment may cost you a trip to the E.R. or to an IV Drip Club. It's pricey, but it's my favorite.

2. Coffee & Aspirin

Some say "Hair of the Dog", while scientist are saying coffee and aspirin[1].

3. Buko (coconut) Juice
If I am hungover, then you won't see me climbing a coconut tree, but we have plenty of coconut trees filled with fresh buko juice. Buko juice is loaded with antioxidants and nutrient rich juice. A few chilled glasses of this magic nectar, and I'm feeling much better. note: very cost effective if you have coconut trees in your yard. I have tried the coconut water that is sold in many grocery stores, and we can attest that the stuff they are selling is only a tiny fraction of the goodness compared to what comes fresh off the tree.

This concludes our top 3 cures for a hangover, even though some scientists are saying the only real cure for a hangover is time. But when I'm feeling bad, there certainly can be relief.

My Personal Final Note: At our house, we are coffee lovers. We love good coffee so much that we started our own coffee company - The Going Native Coffee Club. So we recommend drinking our FOCUS Blend (a 6 bean espresso) along with a side of buko juice.

What do you do for a Hangover? let us know below.
